I was not in the happiest of moods and when we reached this part of the bay shore we stumbled upon this scene.
I was struck by the dilapidated structure of the pipeline. And the large chunks of concrete and asphalt that had been dumped there spoke to me of the lost glory of America's industrial heritage.
I felt sad because this is the legacy our forefathers left us and we have let it crumble and through neglect turned one of mankind's greatest achievements - the Hetch Hetchy Pipeline into an aged and leaky wreck surrounded by the shattered remants of a road.
Dean Birinyi is a residential and commercial interiors and architecture photographer based in San Francisco, CA. I began my career as a photographer in April of 1986. My first job as a photographer was photographing baby portraits in K-Mart Department Stores. I loved the work but not the job. My profession is photographing interiors and architecture is my specialty. However, photography is both my vocation and my avocation.
